Are You Building Your Own Cistern?

You're looking at one star in the middle of a dark sky...The star stands still while you fly up to it. As you get closer you see someone standing there holding an object. You can't see what it is so you move even closer. It's a cup that is almost vase shaped. You watch as the person pours some water into the top of it. -Before the person even finishes pouring the water is flowing out parts of the sides and the bottom! You watch the person get upset and go for more water to fill the cup. You're still watching but you slowly start to float back away from the star into space.

All of the sudden you stop and watch water float right by the star. It just continues to flow right on past this person that is still upset over the holes in the container...Do you realize that we humans are too good at fighting to do more to fix a problem -and yet sometimes we miss the flow of the best.God knew this and had it written for us in Jeremiah 2:13: For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. The First EvilLet's look at the first evil. God's people have left Him. He is the fountain of living water. God doesn't have any holes...

The flow keeps on continuing from Him with no end...The Second EvilThe second evil is God's people hewing their own cisterns...To really understand this verse we need to understand the words that were used. The word 'hewed' means chopped, hacked, or shaped by cutting, and made smooth. The word 'cistern' in the Strong's Greek and Hebrew dictionary means container. It does sound like it can take a lot of work to make one cistern though! The chopping or hacking away at it to make it smooth doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.Yes, it takes work but in the very next sentence God tells us that the cisterns are broken! The containers can't hold any water!Obviously we want and need water! God provides the best for His kids.Knowing this why would anyone attempt to create their own ways of making themselves content and happy? The religions, the diets, and even the schedules operate to help someone. If we are going to help ourselves, shouldn't we go to the living water?Just Remember...It's when we sit in the flow of living water we get to be filled with the love, joy, and peace of Father God!Feel free to distribute this article if it is kept as is, including the Resource Box at the bottom. Red meat consumption doubles risk of colon cancer, says study; is it time to go vegetarian yet?

Copyright 2006 Truth Publishing

A current study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows a doubling of the risk of colon cancer for people who are heavy consumers of red meat. More specifically, it shows that the risk doubles compared to those who consume smaller quantities of red meat. But how does this compare to people who consume no red meat at all?

This is conjecture, but I'm willing to bet that heavy consumers of red meat probably have quadruple the risk (or more) of colon cancer compared to vegetarians or people who consume no red meat. By the way, you don't have to be a vegetarian to boycott red meat. You can still be a consumer of other sources of animal protein (fish, seafood, etc.) while avoiding red meat.

There are plenty of health reasons to avoid eating red meat, and a higher risk of colon cancer is just one of them.

The saturated animal fat found in red meat products contributes to heart disease and...

Dr. Conrad Maulfair Reveals the Real Story About Cholesterol

Copyright 2006 In Touch Media Group, Inc.

"Contrary to popular belief, cholesterol is not fat," says Dr. Conrad Maulfair, director of the Maulfair Medical Clinic in Topton, Pa. "Cholesterol is a waxy substance that is produced by the liver and also ingested through foods we eat. It often has fatty acids contained in it and therefore it is considered to be fat, but it is not fat in and of itself."

According to Dr. Maulfair, up to 80 percent of cholesterol is used to make cholic acid, which is essential in bile salts that are in turn necessary for digestion and absorption of fat from the diet.

Additionally, cholesterol is used to make the hormones progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone.

There is also a significant amount of cholesterol in the skin that helps the skin to resist water absorption and water evaporation. The presence of cholesterol in the skin also helps to decrease the penetration of toxic agents such as solvents.

The Top Ten Things You Don't Want to Hear About Losing Weight (But What You Need to Know if You Want to Get Fit!)

10) No, you won't end up looking like the latest hot young model/singer/actress!Let's face it: your body is your body. It's the only one you've got. Can you still look great? Sure! But there are some things you can't change. You can't make your legs longer or your feet smaller. You can't grow five inches or elongate your torso.

You have what you have, so work with it! Concentrate on making a healthy and fit you instead of wishing you looked like someone else. You don't have to be perfect to be attractive. A strong, fit body as well as the self-confidence it brings can make any person attractive! 9) It's better to be muscular and weigh more than to be flabby and weigh less.I've said it so many times: I'd much rather be 135lbs and muscular than 120lbs and flabby. I've been both, and 135lbs with a lower percent of body fat was definitely better! I was smaller, stronger and had much more energy. So, don't always seek that magical number on the scale, but look at your total body composition...

Mind Over Matter: Key Strategies for Weight Loss Success

Katie, a 33-year-old mother of two, has been on her share of diets over the years.
From Weight Watchers to the Zone to Sugar Busters, she feels as if she has tried them all.
While she has had moderate success in losing weight from time to time, she has never found a long-term weight loss solution.
Her weight is a point of contention in her marriage; her husband-who also happens to be obese-wishes she were thin, but says he loves her anyway.
The two have been separated a number of times, and even filed for divorce once.

The stress has caused Katie to begin binge eating again.

There is hope for Katie and others like her who feel as if they're trapped on the diet carousel.
The key to long-term weight loss success may not be the body, but the mind.
Research indicates that those who have a positive outlook on life are more likely to lose weight-and stay thin.
But how can you have...

The High Blood Pressure And Sodium Connection: Is Salt Raising Your Blood Pressure

Copyright 2006 Frank Mangano

You can have your cake and eat it too -- well at least you can lower your blood pressure and have your salt too. That is what recent research is telling us about sodium's role in managing blood pressure. Hypertension, it turns out, is not caused by too much salt. Neither is it lowered by simply cutting salt out of your diet. So how is it that table salt (sodium) is still getting such a bad rap and being linked to high blood pressure? The real culprit it turns out is not salt, but how your body manages sodium and its proportion to the amount of potassium, calcium and magnesium in your body.

Scientists have discovered that deficiencies in potassium, calcium and magnesium have a much greater impact on blood pressure than the mineral salt.

These other minerals are so important in controlling blood pressure that when they are out of balance with each other, they can make salt more of a threat to healthy blood pressure.

Anti Aging Skin Care : "Pharmaceutical" Cosmetics

Copyright 2006 Danna Schneider

Have you ever heard the new buzz term "cosmeceuticals"? This nifty term refers to the fusion of two areas, one which cultivates necessary medications which control our bodily processes internally, and the other, which manipulates our body from the outside, cosmetically improving our appearance.

You guessed it, the first is "pharmaceuticals" and the second is "cosmetics". The joining of these two fields, both extremely lucrative, and arguably...
